My 5-year old daughter and I went to the Art Institute expecting to have the most fun in The Touch Gallery and the BIGsmall gallery. However, those two ongoing exhibits were not very impressive. It was the 68 Thorne Miniature Rooms on display in Gallery 11 that kept our attention.

I was hesitant to move on to the “big art” with her but was glad I did. She recognized La Grande Jatte from her art memory game and was intrigued by the other rooms with huge colorful paintings.

I recommend that you go there and after experiencing the section for kids, venture through the rooms with big art and look for the mummy!
