Battle Strikers arrived at our house and all other afternoon plans were cancelled. Battle Strikers is an amazingly fun, high energy game. Explaining it is not easy, but maybe you saw the commercials over labor day weekend. The game comes with two joysticks that each have a trigger. You attach your Battle Strikers (turbo tops) to the bottom of the joystick by magnets. Pushing the trigger accelerates the turbo. You then smack the top of the joystick or "cheers" your joystick with your competitor to get the top to drop on the playing surface. Then you don finger magnets over one or two of your fingers. You wave your magnets over your Battle Striker to control it - try to evade getting hit or go on the attack against your opponent. The object is to be the last top spinning or knock your opponent off of the playing surface.

The game is funny, exciting, and suspenseful as you try to force your opponent down or out of the playing area. The joystick is very easy to operate. The game says 6 and over but my 5 year old did not have a problem with it. Pushing the top around with the magnets is more challenging and I need a couple more rounds to figure this out. But you would think someone won the world series when one of the tops goes flying off the play area.

Each Battle Striker has a cool name like Wolfen or Cobra and has a personality. Some are easy to control and some are tough to take down. Of course, my kid wants to collect all of the battle strikers which are sold seperately.

Battle Strikers is a great invention that is already supplying a ton of fun. They do not call them turbo tops for nothing, though. Do not touch the top while it is spinning. I have little war wounds all over my fingers from grabbing it while it is still moving. There is also some pretty cool on-line features where you can customize your own Battle Striker, keep score, and play on-line.
